Optical sensing cables

• CableSense fiber cables use Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) where fiber functions as a sensing element to measure temperature, stress and strain to safeguard power cables and umbilicals from critical overheating.

Nexans supplied umbilicals fitted with CableSense to the Dutch dredging/contracting company, Van Oord. The same technology monitors the temperature of submarine power cables running from Hinan Island to mainland, China.
