- A Petrobras (Petróleo Brasileiro SA) project: Mexilhão gas field in the Santos Basin off the coast of the state of São Paulo
Customer challenges :
A particularly challenging project …
- due to high temperatures (+130°C at the well heads)
- due to high water pressure (10,000 psi)
… which require very thick steel tube walls
 Nexans' solutions:
- Two different umbilical designs to connect the fixed platform to the subsea manifold and the manifold to the individual well heads
- Total length of umbilicals: around 59 km
- These umbilicals will be used to provide electronic control of systems on the seabed and hydraulic and chemical liquid injection
- Manufacturing to be done at Nexans plant in Halden, Norway
