Nexans Accessories Support China's First Large-Capacity Floating Wind Power Demonstration Project

Recently, the “Three Gorges Pioneer” the world's largest single-unit capacity offshore floating wind turbine constructed by China Three Gorges Corporation, was successfully launched at Tieshan Port in Beihai, Guangxi in China. This project serves as the foundation for the 16-megawatt floating wind turbine at Three Gorges Yangjiang and marks China's first large-capacity floating wind power research demonstration initiative.

Nexans, as global leader in renewable energy , supports the project by supplying 66kV T connectors and surge arresters for this prototype. This ensures timely project delivery and safeguards China's flagship deep-sea wind power initiative. 👷🏻‍♀️👷🏻‍♂️

The floating wind turbine is planned for deployment in the southeastern area of the Qingzhou Phase VII offshore wind farm, approximately 75 kilometers offshore with a water depth of no less than 50 meters. Projected annual power generation upon completion is approximately 44.65 million kWh.
