2026 Group Safety Month: Be Alert to Hidden Hazards and Strengthen Safety Defenses
Jun 19, 2026The Group’s 2026 Safety Month has kicked off. This year’s campaign focuses on human-induced hazards and risks, sounding a safety alarm across all global manufacturing sites and office locations: promptly identify risk warnings, take unusual details seriously, proactively pause to reassess your state of mind, adjust your behavior, and rigorously uphold every safety checkpoint.
In line with this year’s Group Safety Month theme, Nexen’s Shandong plant has created a series of real-life safety awareness materials, using posters and engaging, vivid interactive videos to drive home the importance of safety:
Theme 1: Recognizing “Pressure”-Related Hazards
Heavy workloads, multiple tasks running simultaneously, and a fast-paced environment create high-pressure conditions that can easily distract employees and impair judgment, giving rise to various safety risks. When a “yellow light” of risk appears at work, please slow down promptly and apply the STAR safety principle to standardize your behavior:
Stop: Pause your current work and compose yourself
Think: Carefully inspect your surroundings to detect anomalies and potential hazards
Act: Strictly adhere to safety protocols; never take chances or rush
Review: Double-check before proceeding; confirm everything is correct before executing
A single second can change everything. We must take the risks posed by pressure seriously and uphold the safety baseline.
Topic 2: Beware the Trap of “Overconfidence”
Repetitive tasks can easily lead to overconfidence, which in turn can lower safety vigilance. We remind everyone: experience does not equal safety. The more proficient you are, the more strictly you must adhere to operating procedures. Before starting work, be sure to think carefully, check for oversights, use compliant tools, and wear protective gear as required. To address this risk, employees have produced a short video analyzing the dangers of complacency and demonstrating standard operating procedures.
Theme 3: Safeguarding the First Line of Defense at the Plant Entrance
Plant safety encompasses both internal and external aspects, and visitor management must not be overlooked. Visitors must comply with all regulations regarding registration, protective measures, access, and hazard avoidance when entering the plant. On-duty staff should also proactively guide and supervise visitors to ensure that everyone follows the rules and prioritizes safety at all times. To this end, employees staged a live-action demonstration and filmed on-site videos to explain in detail the safety requirements for visitors entering the plant.
The path to safety is one of continuous effort; preventing hazards requires sustained dedication. There are no bystanders when it comes to safety—everyone is accountable. May we remain vigilant at all times, address every risk head-on, standardize every operation, and work together to uphold the safety baseline and safeguard our enterprise.
