Nexans strengthens its worldwide production capacity for the wind energy industry

  • Nexans now has the global production capacity to produce more than one million harnessed cables every year

Tianjin, Jun 30, 2021 – Nexans strengthens its global wind network and increases its production capacities to meet the growing demand for clean energy and electricity in the world. Nine months after the company opened a similar facility in Poland, Nexans extends its presence in China and unveils a new cable harness production facility in the city of Tianjin.

 

The opening was marked by an official ceremony today. Donny Yu, President & CEO of Nexans Great China, Liu Jun, Tianjin Plant Manager, and other executives attended the ceremony. Nexans global ISP&NIS management executives, including Julien Hueber, Executive VP Industry Solutions & Projects, Jean Marc, VP ISP Europe Power BU,  Joe Andersen, CEO Denmark/General Manager NIS, and Kristian Nordskov, Operation Director NIS Denmark, made virtual speech and witnessed the grand moment together. The facility will increase Nexans’ production capacity in the country and help bolster China’s clean energy supply chain during a time of unprecedented market growth.

 

The facility has 3,000 square meters of production and storage space and will manufacture a wide range of wind cable products and solutions. Each product will go through six stages of control from raw material to finished goods, ensuring all products are made to the highest standard. Solutions produced at the facility will include M12 sensor cables, valve connectors, and customized solutions specific to OEM needs.

 

Julien Hueber, Executive VP Industry Solutions & Projects, said “It’s an exciting time for wind power in China. The country’s wind sector is currently the same size as the rest of the world combined - and it continues to grow as the country commits to reducing its CO2 emissions. Furthermore, the falling cost of wind power, efficiency increases, and attractive policies are expected to boost growth even further. One of Nexans’ top priorities is to electrify the future by connecting the world’s renewable energy sources to ensure electricity supplies are secure, reliable, and efficient. Our new facility means Nexans is perfectly positioned to help local original equipment manufacturers drive China’s wind power revolution as more wind turbines are built in the country.”

 

The three facilities in China, Denmark and Poland are part of Nexans’ extensive offering in the industry and solutions market, supporting a wide range of clients with customized cabling and connectivity solutions. Nexans now has a total production capacity of one million harnesses every year. It also has over 15,000 square meters of global production and storage facilities and a wind power team of over 150.
